Outline

How do you move from launching your strategic plan to ensuring effective implementation? This workshop will bring a mix of theory, best practice and practical steps on how to implement. You don't have to have a shiny strategic plan to attend – this workshop will support people interested in how to turn words into positive outcomes.

This workshop will break down the steps to implement your organisation's strategic plan effectively. Participants will be given best practice examples to illustrate how each implementation step can be approached. Participants can, if they wish, bring their Strategic Plan with them to use for group work.

This workshop introduces essential internal planning and reporting framework that will help align your work and your organisation's work with its strategic goals. Applicable to all levels in an organisation i.e., anyone who is passionate about maximising their productivity and focusing their work will have something to gain by coming along.

Instructor

Jillian van Turnhout

Jillian van Turnhout has successfully held a variety of leadership roles in Ireland and the EU across business, public affairs and voluntary sectors. She has served as a Director, CEO and Public Representative and has built a strong public reputation for integrity and sound judgement.

Jillian's governance expertise emanates from over twenty-five years serving and chairing Boards and reporting to Boards as a CEO. Jillian is a Chartered Director (IoD UK) and certified in international corporate governance through the INSEAD International Directors Programme and an Institute of Directors Certificate in Company Direction with distinctions in governance, strategy and leadership.

Jillian current Board roles are Board Chair of the Private Security Authority, Board Chair of Nursing Homes Ireland, Board member of the Arts Council, Director (Trustee) and Company Secretary of the Irish Girl Guides CLG. She was previously the Chief Executive of the Children's Rights Alliance, the Vice Chair (Director) of European Movement Ireland, the Chief Commissioner of the Irish Girl Guides, Vice Chair of the Governance Committee of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and the President of the National Youth Council of Ireland.

Jillian has been awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite by the President of France and an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

Outcomes

On completing the workshop, participants will have the tools to:

  • Break down a strategic plan into relatable component parts
  • Understand how to allocate your financial and human resources
  • Develop annual plans that can be broken down into quarterly/monthly/weekly plans
  • Define and allocate individual and team activities
  • Create a template for quantifying progress against milestones
  • Report on activities and outcomes in a clear and concise manner
  • Develop a Balanced Scorecard for reporting key performance measurements to Board
  • Be agile and ready to adjust.
